You have talked about the 4 c's in your class and we have also discussed the 4 c's in here. We will start by taking this short Kahoot and testing our knowledge about these 4 important words that all begin with the letter c! Click here or go to kahoot.it to access the quiz.
The 4 c's are communicate, collaborate, creativity and critical thinking. What do each of these words mean? Take a moment to share with the person next to you, and then we will discuss as a class. Communication- talking and listening, sharing ideas with others Collaborating- working with someone else or a group of people. Everyone should be contributing their ideas and opinions and treating their group members with respect. Creativity- Coming up with new and unique ideas, making something your own Critical Thinking- Not always thinking in the most obvious way
Our next STEM project we will be working on will use all four of the c's. You will be working in a group where you will collaborate and communicate. This project requires a lot of creativity and critical thinking as well! The project is called the CARDBOARD challenge! Third, fourth and fifth graders will all be participating and creating something that is unique and innovative, using cardboard! We will then take pictures of each group's creation and send these out to the Reedy Creek staff so they can vote on whose was the most innovative!
To inspire you, we are going to watch a video about a young boy named Caine. Caine was 9 years old when this video was filmed, but is now 13 years old. Caine lives in Los Angeles, California, in a part of town that does not have a lot of money. Caine's dad owns an auto part store where he sells car parts like bumpers, breaks and tires. Every weekend and during summer break, Caine goes to work with his dad. He gets very bored since there are no other kids to play with and the store does not get many customers. So Caine uses the 4 c's and creates a cardboard arcade. As we watch the video, look for examples of Caine using creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.
